Nose is the most distinctive feature of the face. Its shape and size has to become one with your face. If your nose is bothering you, it is maybe a good idea to visit an expert. Small correction can be done with hyaluronic acid (see Liquid rhinoplasty) or we can correct it surgically.
What can we correct?
- Nose size in relation to facial balance
- Nose width at the bridge or the size and position of the nostrils
- Nose profile with visible humps or depressions on the bridge
- Nasal tip that is enlarged or bulbous, drooping, upturned or hooked
- Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned
- Nasal asymmetry
Description
Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia. It takes 1,5 – 3 hours. We use two techniques, closed and open rhinoplasty.
Open rhinoplasty: is performed more often because larger corrections are possible. With small incision in columella extending in the nostril the scar is almost not visible after couple of weeks. During the surgery bone and cartilage are modified. After the surgery you have nasal tamponade for 2 days and you get a cast on the nose usually for 1 week.
Closed rhinoplasty: involves a “blind” incision which is made inside the patient’s nostrils, ensuring that there is no scarring after the operation. This type of procedure is limiting for the surgeon as it prevents them from seeing inside the nose. With that we can make small corrections or reduce the hump.
Postoperative recovery
- Day 1-2: Detamponade, medical check-up.
- Week 1: Splint and adhesive bandages are removed.
- Week 3: Decreased bruising, gradual decrease of swelling.
